Col. Angela A. Black is the Interim Commander, 150th Special Operations Wing, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. Her responsibilities include directing all aircraft and equipment maintenance in support of an Active Association for the New Mexico Air National Guard. This association ensures safe and effective HC-130J Combat King II aircraft are mission ready in support of Air Combat Command student aircrew training. Additionally, the wing delivers critical HH-60W Jolly Green II operations support and backshop maintenance support across multiple airframes to the 58th Special Operations Wing.
Black commissioned into the Air Force through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Washington in June 2006 as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. Her first duty station was at Eielson AFB, Alaska, where she served in various Aircraft Maintenance Officer positions with the A-10 Thunderbolt II and F-16 Fighting Falcon. She was then assigned to Joint Base Langley-Eustis as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer on the F-15 Eagle and F-22 Raptor under the 1st Fighter Wing. She held multiple positions to include the 94th Aircraft Maintenance Unit Officer In-Charge. Black was then selected to teach and train the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Washington, where she directed the training of over 150 cadets. Following this assignment, Black transitioned from Active Duty into the Air Force Reserve where she served at Joint Base Lewis-McChord as the Operations Officer for the 446th Maintenance Squadron. After two years, Black found her home with New Mexico Air National Guard. She has served multiple positions to include the Director of Logistics-Air for the New Mexico Air National Guard. Prior to her current position, the colonel was the Director of Strategic Plans, Programs, and Requirements, Joint Force Headquarters, New Mexico Air National Guard, Kirtland AFB, N.M.
