ENLISTMENT PROCESS

The process begins with your local Air National Guard Recruiting office. You will:
· Receive your initial interview by a Recruiter to determine your tentative qualifications for entrance into the New Mexico Air National Guard
· Receive a complete overview of the programs offered by the Air National Guard

Once you feel ready to move onto the next step, your Recruiter will move onto the next step, which is to qualify you for entrance and job qualifications. You will be:
· Required to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery exam (ASVAB). This test will be used to determine your eligibility to join the NMANG and assist in your job selection process.
· Required to have a complete physical examination to determine if you are medically qualified for entrance into the NMANG. You will need to provide medical documentation for any ailments that required hospitalization. The physical is conducted at the military entrance processing station (MEPS) in Albuquerque, NM.

After you have successfully complete both exams, then you will be moved onto job placement. This is the fun part! Your Recruiter will utilize both scores (from the ASVAB and Medical Physical) to determine which jobs you would qualify for. Once they have reviewed your qualifications to the qualifications required for the positions that are posted on the monthly vacancy listing, then you will:
· Visit the sections your interested in working
· Be briefed about potential incentives and benefits

Once you've chosen the job you would like to do, you will be scheduled for an appointment to come back to the unit to have your oath administered to you. You will meet an enlistment clerk who will explain your contract in detail and go over some of the benefits that you will receive.

And that's it! Time to make some decisions! Do you want to enlist? If so, when would you like to enlist?
