KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Airman 1st Class John Holler is one of our newest members in the New Mexico Air National Guard. He swore into the NMANG in May 2019. Holler not only serves his country and community as an Airman but also directly serves our community as an Albuquerque Police Officer.
Holler attended Arizona State University, where he was on the swim team. One of his events was the 100m Fly.
“I wanted to join the military, and the New Mexico Air National Guard was the best opportunity for me while being a police officer,” Holler said.
“As for being a Crew Chief, I just wanted to be on the flight line. I remember I went though and checked out RED HORSE and Security Forces, but at the time I was already a police officer. So, I wanted to do something different,” he said about becoming a C-130 Crew Chief Maintainer.
“The benefits are awesome too. I dropped out, but now I am enrolled back in school. The TA (Tuition Assistance) helps out a lot,” Holler said.
In the next five years, Holler sees himself promoted to Staff Sergeant, aiding in humanitarian missions, going on deployments, receiving an associate’s degree, and enrolling to finish his bachelor’s degree.
