Airmen from the 150th Special Operations Wing, here, gathered in hangar 1043 to witness Lt. Col. David Chavira assume command of the 150th Maintenance Group from Lt. Col. John Scott, August 7, 2021.

Before the ceremony, Scott was promoted to the rank of colonel and became the vice wing commander of the 150 SOW.

“This is a tremendous officer in front of us that’s proved himself over and over again,” said Col. George Sefzik, 150 SOW commander. “I look forward to this change and I look forward to having him step in.”

Scott  expressed how thrilled he was for his successor to take on this job. “Having served in this group you know exactly what you’re getting into, and the group of men and women that you’re about to command are the best in the business ‘bar none’” said Scott

“I’m well aware of the immense responsibilities on my shoulders, I do not take it lightly,” said Chavira. “I know that our maintenance team will always look to ensure aircraft and our equipment are safe, serviceable and properly configured for every mission.”
